Crafting a Passion into Writing
Someone asked me recently how I am able to come up with ideas for books to be published. At the time, I answered the question flippantly, saying that I am just very creative; a storyteller at heart. Nonetheless, this question did make me reflect on where an author gets their inspiration.
With billions of books and different stories available all over the world, how do we keep coming up with new stories and plots that keep readers coming back for more?
As far back as I remember I loved writing stories. Recently, I found a small stash of short stories and poems I had written as a teenager. Reading these early works made me reflect on my passion for storytelling, and my desire to be heard through the written word from an early age.
That passion never left me, and only now as I reach forty, am I nurturing this ambition, and releasing my stories to the public. It is both a daunting and exciting experience, as I watch and wait, hoping that my stories reach the audience I had intended, and more so, that they have the impact I had desired.
There is nothing to do, but hold your breath and just hope.
But where do the stories come from?
Truth be told, I tend to have several different stories spinning around in my head at any one time, but there are some that I just do not know how to put down on paper. Some take time to develop, and others develop as I write them. Nevertheless, sometimes it seems as though I have two or three stories trying to be heard all at once.
The most difficult task I find, is getting the time to ensure that these stories are captured in the right way, to reach the right audience, before they disappear from my imagination altogether. Sometimes I feel like I am running out of time, and I just need to spend hours in front of my little laptop, or with a note book, capturing my thoughts and ideas.
Ever author has their own unique ways of crafting their imaginations into a readable publication. That itself is the reason why we have so many new and exciting stories developing each and every day. Every author is different, passionate and imaginative, and whilst we all want our stories to be heard, we will take different paths to reach our readers!

Your experience of writing and how the stories come to you is very similar to mine, Rachel, and I know what you mean about trying to ensure you have the time to get them written in the best way you can, before you forget them.
Happy writing.
Great post! Thanks for sharing
I agree – you need to find your channel and then craft it!
