Hello Readers and Friends,

It’s been a strange time with the recent events in Ukraine. After battling an unavoidable COVID the last two years, it’s unsettling to watch a country torn apart in avoidable acts. One thing we can always count on though is the soothing power of a good book—the visceral take me away from anxiety-provoking events. While we continue to pray for peace abroad and help those in need, here are my latest reads. I hope they bring you some form of comfort in the coming weeks and months.

Reminders of Him by Colleen Hoover

If you haven’t delved into Hoover’s novels, now’s the time. The bestselling author writes of powerful relationships with all the feels. This thought-provoking read captures a young mother, recently released from jail, on a quest to reunite with the four-year-old daughter she was forced to abandon. Grab the tissues.

After Everyone Else by Leslie Hooton

This was my first Leslie Hooton read, and it won’t be my last. Hooton exquisitely captures the nuances of marriage and the mother-daughter relationship in this deftly written whodunnit. When successful restaurant designer Bailey is accused of killing her ex-husband, so begins a journey between the past and the present and the lengths we will go to protect the ones we love. Pre-order now.

Watch Out For Her by Samantha Bailey

In Bailey’s second novel and soon-to-be smash hit, Sarah Goldman, mother to six-year-old Jacob, finds comfort and friendship with twenty-two-year-old babysitter Holly Monroe. But both women are keeping secrets, and this fast-paced thriller will have you turning pages late into the night. Pre-order now.

Until We Meet by Camille Di Maio

I’m a fan of DiMaio’s books, and her latest historical fiction tells the tale of three courageous women working at the Navy Yard in New York City during WWII. There, amongst the atrocities of war, the trio manage personal struggles, buoyed by their deep, abiding friendship and a love story tht will capture your heart.

The Roughest Draft by Emily Wibberley and Austin Siegemund-Broka

Who doesn’t love a romance written by real-life sweethearts which portrays two sexy authors forced to write a book together all while finding their literal groove? Fans of sizzling romance will love this sexy read.

Woman on Fire by Lisa Barr

Have you heard of this book? It appears to be EVERYWHERE at the moment. That’s because this beautifully written, compelling tale is dazzling readers across the globe. Follow investigative reporter Jules Roth as she tracks down a painting stolen by the Nazis—and she’s not the only one on the hunt. All the ingredients are here to keep you entranced: art, romance, history, and suspense.

The Henna Artist by Alka Joshi

Savor this story of seventeen-year-old Lakshmi who flees an abusive marriage, landing in Jaipur. There, Lakshmi becomes a coveted henna artist, offering confidence and sage advice to the women of the town. But when a sister she never knew she had lands on her doorstep, Lakshmi must pivot between past and present, modern and tradition, while maintaining her place in society. Lyrical writing that will take you away.

I hope you find the time to break away from the news and enjoy these recommendations, but let’s not stop supporting and praying for those in need.
