September: Reading With Rochelle Weinstein

Hello Readers & Friends,

Have any of you been saying all week long: I can’t believe it’s October?! I have.

How was your September? Ours was busy with trips to New York and the mountains out west. The fall foliage gets me every single time. The sound of a rippling river. The crisp air. The gorgeous vistas. I read a quote that has stuck with me. “But in every walk with nature, one receives far more than he seeks.” John Muir. Nature is a real gift.

But after a long day walking city streets and hiking nature trails, there’s nothing I love more than curling under a blanket with a great book. Add these to your TBR list and then get out there and touch grass.

If letters are your love language, meet your next favorite protagonist Sybil Van Antwerp. Each one of her thoughtful, witty letters tells a much larger story. I devoured this journey of reflection and forgiveness and even wrote the author a note. Like Sybil, she replied!

The Correspondent, Virginia Evans

I’ve been hearing about this book everywhere–the mysterious stranger who lands in the fictional city of Golden. There he purchases each of the ninety-two pencil drawing portraits at a coffee shop and anonymously gifts them to their owners. This generous act sets off a heartfelt tale of connection, friendship, and kindness.

Theo of Golden, Allen Levi

I listened to this one on Audible, and Michael Crouch is fantastic. For those of you who enjoy small-town stories that span decades with familial secrets and rich layers, this one’s for you.

Buckeye, Patrick Ryan

Lily King never disappoints. One woman and her relationship with two male best friends begins in first love and evolves through adulthood. Nostalgic and redemptive.

Heart The Lover, Lily King

If My Sister’s Keeper and Carrie Soto is Back had a baby, this would be it. Need I say more?

SpectacularThings, Beck Dorey-Stein

Bleeker has a way with words and emotions. This moving read follows Charlie McFadden through a series of secrets and lies as she reconnects with her estranged parents. Gripping and immersive, make sure to grab the tissues.

Good Days Bad Days, Emily Bleeker

Step into the word of the Brontë sisters in this lyrical novel characterizing their deep, complicated bond. Perception is key as the sisters search for truth and answers.

The Man in The Stone Cottage, Stephanie Cowell

Relationships are tested in this emotionally complex novel of family. As this “perfect” couple crumbles–while holding onto hope for a child–Conrey delivers a thought-provoking, powerful read.

A Fine Layer of Dust, Barbara Conrey

Do you have any plans for October?

Happy Reading. Don’t forget to write reviews and share with your friends.
