RYAN’S TEMPTATION

Wrong place, wrong time. Now she’s running for her life.

Beautician Chanel Leroc can wield a pair of scissors like nobody’s business. After she witnesses a murder and lands on a serial killer’s hit list, she has to figure out how to protect herself—and fast. The killer tracks her down, but her sexy new neighbor, Dr. Ryan Naylor, drives the brute off.

The police dump the pair in a witness protection program, which doesn’t last long. Either the killer has a connection to the police, or he’s far more intelligent than they realize. All Chanel wants to do is get back to her safe life and get to know her neighbor better. Instead, she and Ryan hit the road and try to survive on their own.

How will they stay alive and keep their blooming romance intact with the killer hot on their trail?

Character Chat with Dr. Ryan Naylor

Amber Daulton sits with Ryan in a busy café. It’s been a few months since the events of Ryan’s Temptation, so she’s eager to know how he’s doing.

Amber: Thank you again for spending your lunch hour with me. I know you’re busy at the health clinic.

Ryan: No problem. Thanks for inviting me. I needed to get out of there for a while. I had a cranky patient this morning who insulted me six ways from Sunday like the results from his biopsy was my fault. [sighs] Sorry. I don’t mean to start the interview on a down note.

Amber: Oh, no. It’s all right. [sips from my glass of lemonade] Besides work, how are things going? Are you getting your life back on track?

Ryan: [swallows a bite of his chicken sandwich] For the most part, yeah. Chanel and I doing great. We’ve moved in together and have expanded our little family.

Amber: Family? You’re having a baby?

Ryan: [blushes and grins] No, no. I meant we got a dog. I’m not opposed to having babies, but we’re taking things slow.

Amber: [pouts] Well, I suppose it would be a little too soon for a Ryan or Chanel Junior to be kicking its way into the world. What I really want to know is, what was it like going on the run and evading both the police and the serial killer after you?

Ryan: Terrifying. Exhilarating. I never thought anything like that would happen to me, but I’m not so arrogant to believe I’m special and would live a life free of trouble. Having a serial killer target me, though, or the police putting out an APB on me weren’t even in the lineup of possibilities. [wipes his hands on a napkin] Chanel and I fell off the grid for weeks, and I found what I didn’t know I wanted.

Amber: What was that?

Ryan: A second chance. You see, I’d married my college sweetheart back when we were in school, but we both had busy work schedules, and it drove a wedge between us. I’m ashamed to say I put my career before my wife, and I lost her. I was already making some changes when I met Chanel, and through her, I found a way to redeem myself, at least in the romance department. I would do anything to keep her in my life—my job be damned.

Amber: Good. Chanel’s not the type to twiddle her thumbs at home while waiting for her man to grace her with presence.

Ryan: You’re right on that. She’s the type to plunge headfirst into danger and nearly give me a heart attack.

Amber: [chuckles] What can I say? She has balls.

[we laugh and continue to eat]

Amber: What was Chanel like when you two had to go into Witness Protection?

Ryan: Brave. Courageous. Snarky. Irritating as hell. [smirks] We barely knew each when the police dumped us at the cockroach-infested motel, but she trusted me enough to share a room with me. It took all the willpower I had to keep my hands to myself. All I wanted to do was kiss her.

Amber: [grins wickedly] Just kiss?

Ryan: [winks at me] All right, I wanted to do more. I’m only human. We had two big beds between us, and one day, she even mentioned she was late to take her birth control pill but that it didn’t matter since she wasn’t having sex. I could’ve easily remedied the no sex part, but I stepped back from temptation.

Amber: [snorts] Chanel probably knew exactly how she was affecting you. I’m happy you proved yourself to be a gentleman, at least at the start of your ordeal.

Ryan: Yeah, the hands-off thing didn’t last long. [rubs his hands down his pants legs] Chanel is an amazing person. If not for her, I don’t know how I would’ve gotten through everything in one piece.

Amber: I’m sure she would say the same about you.

Ryan: [his phone buzzes] That’s my timer. I have to head back to work.

Amber: So soon? Okay, I understand. Thanks again for coming.

Ryan: Anytime. The meal was great. [hugs me goodbye and leaves]
