ONE KILLER NIGHT
“Whip smart and hilarious! Pucci is well on her way to literary domination.” ―Abby Jimenez, #1 New York Times bestselling author of Just for the Summer.
USA Today bestselling author Trilina Pucci cranks up the heat in this sexy slasher filled with dark family secrets, classic horror tropes, and banter as sharp as a deranged killer’s knife.
Love is patient.
Love is kind.
Love will stab you from behind.
It’s Halloween night, and out-of-work writer Goldie Monroe’s trip to the drugstore scares up more than the fake blood she’s looking for. It leads to the man of her naughtiest dreams. And in spite of her costume, sparks fly from the moment they meet.
Noah Adler, aspiring sneaker designer, is impossibly gorgeous―like a tatted-up version of Goldie’s favorite blue-eyed vampire. He’s there for candy, but it’s Goldie he can’t resist. When she invites him to her sister’s F/X company bash, he’s all in without a second thought.
The pair’s flirty connection heats up fast, carrying them to electrifying new heights. But after Goldie discovers Noah is hiding a dark secret, it all starts to crumble. Looking for answers about her own past awakens new dangers, and when Goldie and Noah land at a slasher camp for adults, a deadly tragedy threatens to repeat itself. If they can survive this one killer night, they can definitely slay a happily ever after.
Goldie interview
Me: Hey…this is so weird, right? Me, interviewing you…
Goldie: Yeah. Completely, especially since you’re just kind of talking to yourself.
Me: Imagine people could overhear or see this…
Goldie: Yeah, they’d be throwing away the key.
*Laughs*
Me: I’m going with a late night talk show vibe.
Goldie: I’m all in. Shoot.
Me: *Clears throat and rustles papers* So, Goldie—Halloween night. You walk into a drugstore for fake blood and leave with a tattooed dreamboat. Did you think you’d walked into a romance novel… or a crime documentary?
Goldie: Honestly, maybe both. The way Noah and I met is so random… and kismety. I fully realize that’s not a word, but it was kind of magical. I mean what are the chances you meet your soul-mate on Halloween night in the aisle of a convenience store. It could really only go one of those ways—romance novel or missing person.
Me: Okay, but, the costume made it all worth it. I love that costume…
Goldie: *chuckles* Listen, I’m not the sexy cat girl or even the cute witch girl. That inflatable t-rex was calling my name. My mom always says it’s more important to be interesting over pretty. So I went full Jurassic Park.
Me: You know what I find interesting…your first kiss. A little behind the curtain, it wasn’t originally planned that way, but you guys went off script a lot. If you could describe your first kiss with Noah in three words, what would they be and why?
Goldie: Earth. Freaking. Shattering. I’ve never personally had a movie moment happen to me in real life. But standing in the middle of that street, while all the butterflies made a cyclone in my stomach, gawd… and the way he stared down at me like I was the only thing in the world. I highly recommend everyone finds a Noah, stat.
Me: Okay now I’m curious, what’s the most ridiculous thing Noah said that made you think, yep, this man could ruin my life in the best way?
Goldie: Wait, I’m supposed to choose one thing he’s said? Have you seen him? That’s rhetorical…but let’s be real, his drenched in grunt is sex appeal. But…if I had to think of one unhinged thing he said, it might be when he threw me over his shoulder and I yelled, “What are you doing?” and he said, “Job security.” Because, c’mon, every girl likes a man who loves to please.
Me: Absolutely, but for a minute, he wasn’t your favorite person…it’s what led to the adult slasher camp. Which in my head sounded like Coachella, but with more murder. If you had to do it all over, would you bring bear spray, or just… a flirty attitude?
Goldie: Oh okay, we’re doing dark humor. Because do it again? No…no way. Not even for a sequel. And you know me, I hate all things scary so flirty attitude is a hard pass. Bear spray, a machete, a blow torch all of those work just fine.
Me: What you’re telling me is that I’ve traumatized you.
Goldie: Yeah. Duh.
Me: But I also gave you a gift.
Goldie: Is it returnable.
Me: You saw the worst of people—and the best—in one night. That’s something awesome because what has this taught you about love?
Goldie: According to my sister, who is listening and just texted, I should’ve learned that love is overrated and I should’ve stuck to Hinge.
Me: Be serious.
Goldie: *grins with a shrug* Fine, if we’re gonna deep dive into a proper emotional vocabulary, then I guess it taught me that love always wins. That it’s something you fight for. That the sum of your parts does not define who you are, because you are only defined by your character, your humanity, and how you love others around you.
Me: Okay, no more deep dives. Let’s stay surface with a little game of is he a Killer or Keeper. Answer your first thought, no overthinking.
Goldie: Deal. Shoot.
Me: Shows up with flowers… and a mysterious bandage on his hand.
Goldie: Keeper…he could just hurt himself picking them for you.
Me: Knows your coffee order… but also your blood type.
Goldie: Keeper. God forbid a man love science.
Me: Calls you “babe” after five minutes… and “my alibi” after ten.
Goldie: Killer…only because of the “babe.”
Me: Has abs you could grate cheese on… but won’t tell you where he was last Friday.
Goldie: Keeper…no Killer…ugh, pass.
Me: Offers to cook dinner… in a remote cabin… with no cell service.
Goldie: Keeper. People are overrated.
Me: Knows way too much about horror movie tropes… and how to “avoid becoming the victim.”
Goldie: Keeper. Nobody wants to be the victim. I love a proactive man.
Me: Whispers “trust me”… right before the lights go out.
Goldie: Keeper with a capital K. Noah is a guy who screams do it for the plot, so who am I not to follow him into the darkness.
Me: Okay, let’s wrap this up. High-Low from being the main character of One Killer Night?
Goldie: *furrows brow as she thinks* Okay, I got it…The high was finding someone who lets me be myself, actually celebrates it. Isn’t ever intimidated by the scope of my dreams and truly understands what being a partner means. The low was almost getting killed by—
*I cough loudly*
Me: No…nope. You can’t say that. It’s like the whole twist. Thanks for doing this interview and I’ll save you saying you’re welcome since you’re just in my head.
