Hello Readers & Friends,

Spring has sprung, and I hope everyone had a great month of reading. Can you say March Madness?! Yeah, the headlines can be depressing at times, so it’s always good to have a fabulous book nearby. With books you can escape and lose yourself in another world. Like I did! I hope you do too.

Daughters of Nantucket, Julie Gerstenblatt, Paperback ARC

Eliza. Meg. Maria. Three extraordinary heroines fighting for their homes and lives during Nantucket’s Great Fire of 1846.

What to expect: The short timeframe packs a punch with themes of identity, equality, and forbidden love. A gorgeous novel rich in history and memorable characters.

The Personal Librarian, Marie Benedict and Victoria Christopher Murray, Audible

The fascinating story of Bella de Costa Greene, a black woman posing as white, hired by J. P. Morgan to curate art and literature for his Pierpont Morgan Library.

What to expect: Exquisite writing and world building, a successful, courageous woman protecting herself and the library she loves, and an honest account of race, class, and being true to oneself.

The Housemaid, Freida McFadden, Audible

Ex-con Millie moves into the beautiful Winchester home where nothing is at it seems.

What to expect: McFadden’s an Amazon Charts Bestseller for good reason. Creepy and suspenseful, the psychological thriller will have you ramping up your audio speed to 2.0, concluding with the fact that, ahem, women RULE.

The Love Wager, Lynn Painter, NetGalley eBook

A romantic comedy centered on Hallie and Jack who make a bet on which of them will find love first.

What to expect: Friends to lovers with steamy hot chemistry, the best banter I’ve ever read, and TACOS (because we all know how much I love tacos).

How I’ll Kill You, Ren DeStefano, PRH Audio

Triplet serial killer sisters who make their targets fall in love with them only to kill them. What happens when youngest, Sissy, falls in love herself?

What to expect: A twisty, creepy thriller, the loyalty and devotion between family, and did I say triplet serial killer sisters?!

Maame, Jessica George, Hardcover and Audible

What to expect: An absolute delight of a read. A heroine who’s relatable and loveable, and a moving, provocative coming-of-age story.

Good For You, Camille Pagan, eBook

On month-long unpaid leave, Allie retreats to the beach house her brother Luke left to her when he died. But she’s not alone. There’s Luke’s best friend, Wyatt.

What to expect: Pagan’s warm and witty writing, friendship and sacrifice, forgiveness and healing, and one woman’s journey from “lizard brain” thinking to fully realizing her strength and worth. I spotted that, Camille.

The Mostly True Story of Tanner and Louise, Colleen Oakley, Hardcover

College dropout Tanner moves in to care for the elderly Louise, but when things take a turn, they find themselves fleeing cross-country from the authorities.

What to expect: Move over Thelma and Louise! An action-packed road trip full of laughter and self-discovery. Hilarious text messages strewn in from Louise’s worried kids, and two women who find strength and comfort in the least likely place…with each other. One day read.

Before We Were Innocent, Ella Berman, NetGalley eBook

Childhood friends Bess and Joni unravel a tragedy from the past as it collides with a present-day mystery.

What to expect: The complexities of teenage girls and their friendships, the sometimes painful nostalgia of our youth, a gorgeous Greece setting, and two tragedies seen through the lens of great privilege and naivete.
