Italian press, radio and TV journalist, Elena Doni has a degree in Literature from the Sapienza University of Rome. For 13 years, she has directed Radioanch'io. She currently works at the Unit of Women and the Republic. In 2000 she curated a major exhibition organized by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage Complex of San Michele in Rome entitled "Novecentodonna". Through photographs, documents, publications, posters, objects and clothes the exhibit  gave witness to the emergence of women as a social subject in the twentieth century. The book "Il secolo delle donne" (The Century of Women) (with photographer Manuela Fugenzi) published in 2001 by Laterza, emerged from the exhibit.

Elena has previously published other books: with Chiara Valentini "L'arma dello stupro" (The Weapon of Rape) (Moon 1993) on the massacres and rapes in Bosnia; and "I guerrieri di Dio" (Warriors of God) (Rizzoli, 1995). She also wrote "Il volto cancellato", Fakhra Younas' memoir, published by Mondadori in 2005, and collaborated on a book with the collective Controparola entitled "Donne del Risorgimento".
