Certain Cure Origins

Would you be willing to have a nanochip implanted if it could cure cancer? What if it’s the fountain of youth? That’s the premise of Jennifer Valoppi’s novel CERTAIN CURE: WHERE SCIENCE MEETS RELIGION.

By Jennifer Valoppi

“Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.” Sir Arthur C. Clarke, scientist, author and futurist.

As a veteran television journalist, I have spent my career investigating and analyzing events of the day—intrigued by the way they impact our lives in ways we are often largely unaware.

The current pandemic, like many other events that throw our world into chaos, bring renewed interest in “end days” prophecies. “Are these signs from God?” “Did Nostradamus  predict that?” “Is it really in the Bible?” These are all questions I have repeatedly heard over the years, immediately following hurricanes, earthquakes or other “acts of God” or terror.

Invariably, the battle rages between the modern scientific world we live in, and the religious and spiritual notions we cling to. But faith is a precarious notion. Ancient prophecies are dismissed as little more than superstitions, many of which are so far-fetched it’s hard to imagine how they could actually occur in a modern world. Or is it?

Certain Cure is a thriller that bridges the gap between science and religion—where ancient prophecies intersect with modern quantum physics and nanotechnology, as the characters move through Manhattan—a world filled with signs and symbols, all warnings hidden in plain sight that must be deciphered and interpreted.

It’s based on actual quotes from various religious documents. Some are obvious references; others not so obvious. Can you find them?

I hope you enjoy the read.

About CERTAIN CURE

Certain Cure: Where Science Meets Religion, chronicles the life of 3 generations of the Cummings family; Claire, a woman in her 70s who has been diagnosed with terminal cancer, Helene, her television journalist daughter and Justin, the teenage grandson whose adoration of his “Grams” leads him to discover the dark secret behind the miracle technology that is not only curing Claire of her cancer, but tempting his mother with eternal youth, as traditional medical industries wage war against the mysterious doctor from China who threatens them all.

The action takes place on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, beginning with the decapitation murder of a prominent doctor. The investigation pulls Robert Morgan, the former Police Chief, a drunk still struggling with the murder of his wife at the hands of terrorists, out of seclusion and runs parallel to the action. Throughout the series Justin is seeing strange visions and Robert is having bizarre dreams fulfilling the prophecy “In the end days…your young men will see visions and your old men will dream dreams.”
